6008 Protecting Children's Human Rights Special8

More than 200 million children are being forced onto battlefields as child soldiers, while other children are being abused as cheap laborers at chemical plants, farms, mines, stone pits, etc. More than 6 million kids suffer from malnutrition every year. In addition, 275 million children are subject to domestic violence every year. Left to indifference, many adopted or disabled children suffer from society¡?s bias and inhospitality.
The ¡°UN Convention on the Right of the Child,¡± has clearly declared that every single child has the right to grow up in a healthy environment with love, educational opportunities and freedom to play to their heart¡?s content. In exercising these rights, the children should not be subjected to any type of discrimination no matter what their race, skin color, gender, language, religion, family¡?s social or financial standing. Children are the blossom who will bloom to create a better future. It is their natural right to be raised under special care based on happiness, love and understanding. Creating this kind of world is definitely our own responsibility and mission.
Dreaming of the world where all children can live a happy life, a special stamp on protection of children¡?s human rights is issued, featuring the two award-winning works of the 2007 International Postage Stamp Design Contest: ¡°Love for Eternity¡± by Roh Hye-rim (Korea) and ¡°Father¡?s Hands¡± by Robert Brun (Slovakia).
